High school teacher is recognized by the Ohio Lottery

XENIA—Bill Richey is a Chemistry teacher at Xenia High School. He teaches 9th-12th graders. Richey is an Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month for the month of May. Richey also teaches Advanced Placement Chemistry and Honors Chemistry.

Richey does a science camp in the summer for grades 3-8 and also does a Halloween show for all the elementary students. The students from Richey’s high school classes do the presentations. He is in charge of the Chemistry Club and the Renaissance Club. He is described as amazing by Assistant Principal Karol Warden.

Richey takes 80-100 students to Florida for a week in the summer for science classes. One of the places the students go to is Sea World. Students are known to come back exhausted but excited to learn and discover science. Richey is dynamic and fun. He makes a subject such as chemistry seem not so overwhelming but instead, fun and exciting.

For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Richey will receive four tickets to a Cincinnati Reds’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
