Campbell... Phil Atsas is a Physical Education Teacher at Campbell Elementary School. Atsas recently was named Teacher of the Month by the Ohio Lottery for the month of April. Atsas represents the Youngstown area.

“Mr. Atsas consistently advances his students to higher levels of physical achievement on a daily basis using dynamic, tactile, and scientifically researched curriculum lessons based upon state standards and benchmarks,” says Dr. Robert Walls, the Principal at Campbell Elementary School.

Atsas is described as an “excellent communicator.” Atsas also coaches the summer soccer team and is a teacher leader on the special level team. He is a team player who demonstrates excellent teamwork skills when he works with others.

His approach is systematic, and he is a good role model for his students, staff, general public, and his peers. Walls writes that Atsas, “is a professional staff member with compassion, enthusiasm, intellectual intensity, and positive character who is a constructive beacon of hope and inspiration for those who come into contact with him.”

Atsas will receive four tickets to an Akron Aeros’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team, and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise.

The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month thoughout the school year.
